I had this great idea...

Why did I make this blog?
Well, I really love finding blogs made by people like me (ie: not rich) who make over their homes using thrifted items, DIY crafts, and elbow grease vs contractors. I have found some amazing blogs over the past few months, but I'm always disappointed when it boasts to be a completely "normal people" blog and then the first thing I see is how they spend 15k on a new kitchen.

We're starting to fix up our new home. We bought it in June of this year and structurally it's perfect. Updated? Not so much. Our kitchen looked like it was straight out of 1984... which it probably was, seeing as how that's the year this house was built. We love every aspect of this house- the charming outside, the extra space, just everything. But we knew going into this that we would have to invest ourselves into making this house ours.

We've slowly started fixing things up... we would have started sooner but we had a new baby girl in mid-August so redoing things while 8-9 months pregnant wasn't such a great idea. And then it was damn near impossible with a newborn. She's finally settling into a bit of a schedule and we're finding the time to get into it!

It's a slow process. So far we've bought furniture for our front living room (clearanced floor models, thankyouverymuch!), new appliances for the kitchen (an absolute necessity), and working on painting here and there. My goal is to have the kitchen, family room, living room, and downstairs bathroom done by Thanksgiving. We shall see how that goes...
